Only the Barcelona T10 card offers value to tourists
Tourist cards that are available for tourists coming into Barcelona are:
- Barcelona Card
- Museum Pass [Articket]
- T10 Cards
- HolaBCN cards
For an average tourist, the only card that makes sense is Barcelona T10 card.
Barcelona Card [official Barcelona tourist pass]
Barcelona card is the official tourist pass of Barcelona. On paper, this card is a 3 in 1 card : transport card, museum pass, and a discount card combined.
But unfortunately, it does not offer much value. The focus of the card is convenience and not value.
The Barcelona card is available as
- 3 Day Barcelona Pass
- 4 Day Barcelona Pass
- 5 Day Barcelona Pass
As a rule of thumb, the Barcelona Card is a good deal only if you plan on traveling by public transport extensively, and visit many (almost all) museums and attractions, on every day of your visit.
Barcelona Museum card
Barcelona Museum card (Articket) gains you entry to 6 art museums in Barcelona for a period of 12 months. If you visit all the 6 museums that are covered by the museum pass, you can save 45% on the separately purchased tickets to these museums.
The museums covered by the Barcelona Museum Card are:
- Museu Picasso
- Fundació Joan Miró
- Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya
- Fundació Antoni Tàpies
If you visit only one or two museums in Barcelona, then this Articket does not make sense for you to buy.
For instance, if you are visiting only Picasso Museum, you end up spending 30 € buying the Museum card instead of 11 € you would have spent purchasing a Picasso Museum ticket.
Barcelona T10 Transport card
Choose the Barcelona T10 Transport card. It makes immense sense to buy this card. To cover most Barcelona attractions, a T10 card for Zone 1 costing €9.95 is sufficient.
You can read this post to see the difference between the T10 card and HolaBCN card for Barcelona.
