Sitges is more than its 17 beaches and promenade. Here are some non-beach things to see and do while in Sitges.
Visit Casa Bacardi Museum in Sitges
The birthplace of the Bacardi founder Facundo Bacardi, Casa Bacardi Museum is located in a late 19th century Modernist building Mercat Vell de Sitges. The building is easily located in the Sitges city center at Plaça Ajuntament.
A 45 minute tour of Casa Bacardi House Museum covers the heritage and origin of the Bacardi rum company. The Bacardi Tours costs 9 Euros and places are limited to 30 so book in advance (+34 938 94 81 51, Website). Also note that the museum tour is only available Friday to Sunday.
Attend the excellent cocktail bartending class at Casa Bacardi if you have an evening to spare in Sitges. It costs 40 Euros, lasts for 3 hours, and includes a tour of the museum.
Museu Romántic in Sitges
The Museum of Romanticism in Sitges recreates the 19th century lifestyles of wealthy Catalan landlords. Its highlights are a 14 seater carriage, lighting systems over the ages, a collection of furnishings, and 400 dolls made of wood, paper cache and porcelain. The museum is housed in a Neoclassical-style building, the Can Llopis mansion.
Drive around Sitges countryside
You can easily spend a couple of days driving around Sitges. Just a few minutes outside Sitges are the pine covered hills of Garraf Natural Park famous for its flora and fauna, and calcareous rock.
The Vilafranca del Penedés wine and cava producing region is just inland of Sitges. Olivella is a small town on the beach with great bars and restaurants. The Pyrenees and ski areas are just a 2 hour drive north of Sitges.
Go on wine tours from Sitges
Wine tasting experiences lie just 45-minutes from Sitges in the Penedes wine belt, home to hundreds of wine producers. The famous Torres winery is here and so are the cava producing vineyards of San Sadurni d'Anoia.
The pick of the wine tours in the region are Torres (+34 938 177 487), and Codorniu (+34 938 183 232) vineyards. You need not always make a booking but it helps to book a place ahead on weekends.
Sitges beyond beaches
I recommend the Terramar Club as it has a spectacular sea view. Most beginner players have an area for them. There is also a very good cafe where you can relax with a cocktail or coffee.
At Cal Pinxo you can eat the best paella in Sitges (I recommend the vegetable one). Not cheap but worth it as all your menu is delicious.
Garraf Natural Park
If you like being surrounded by nature, you should visit this place. It has its own fauna and with peculiar rock formations. You can visit on your own or with a guide. It is a very large protected space.
Port of Aiguadolç
If you want to relax at night or spend a romantic evening, I recommend the port. It has a great offer of restaurants (a bit expensive), but the best are its terraces. A local bar called "Nirvana" serves cocktails at good prices.
On the first Saturday of each month, the "Nits Blanques" are organized, where art galleries are open until 11:00 PM or 12:00 AM. There is a very good atmosphere.
San Bartolomé Church
A beautiful baroque church (17th century) with spectacular artistic works inside, even some from the 15th century!). An amazing baroque organ stands out.
