The Galleria Borghese is one of the many stunning art galleries in Rome, and it is important to make reservations in advance in order to avoid disappointment, even if you have a Roma Pass. And when you visit Galleria Borghese, a guided tour is certainly recommended!
Why is advance booking so critical?
Galleria Borghese only allows 360 people in each day for specific amounts of time. This means that it is a lot more peaceful that other famous galleries, but it also means that bookings are required, even if you have a free pass.
The 2 ways to book Galleria Borghese
Booking Without a Roma Pass
On the website - Tickets can be purchased by going through the official website for the museum. When you click Buy Tickets it will take you to the Ticket One website to choose dates, times and to purchase your ticket. The website is in Italian and can sometimes be difficult to navigate, in which case it can be easier to book tickets through an agent.
Using an agent
If you want to book through an agent to make the process easier, you can use a website like Ticket Bar. They have most attractions for sale including the Galleria Borghese, although they do charge extra for the convenience of using their site. Their website can be found here: http://rome.ticketbar.eu/en/ancient-rome/borghese-gallery
Booking With a Roma Pass
As FREE attraction - The Galleria Borghese is counted as one of the attractions on your Roma Pass, which means that you can visit it as one of your main free-entry sites. Although it is free, you will still need to make a reservation. But there is no reservation fee to pay, if you are counting Galleria Borghese as one of your free attractions on the Roma Pass.
As REDUCED fee attraction - You will need to pay a 2€ reservation fees in addition to the reduced entry rate for the ticket to Galleria Borghese, if you have already used, or if you plan to use your Roma Pass free-entry at other attractions in Rome.
Reservation are only by phone - As a Roma Pass holder, the only way to reserve your spot is by phone, you cannot do it online. The number to call is +39 06 32810.
You must take a guided tour at Galleria Borghese
Although a guided tour is not necessary, it is highly recommended. It can be a good idea to book a tour guide as there is a lot to see and appreciate and a limited time to do it in.
A personal tour guide should be your first option. You can make a booking for a guide when you are booking your entry ticket.
If there is no guide available at the time of reservation, you can take a self-guided audio tour for 5€. This is an alternative option that allows you to go at your own pace but still provides well-narrated facts about the history of some of the most important pieces.
I do not suggest visit Galleria Borghese without some sort of guide; it would be a pity to spend that much money and miss out on the complete experience.
