All of Costa Brava is romantic
Costa Brava is full of beautiful coastal towns. The best part about Costa Brava is that if you are driving around you can stop wherever you feel is a romantic spot. You will be quite alone and yet you will never be far from a nice, calm, Catalan village. In particular I recommend the area around Aiguablava, and medieval village triangle of Palau Sator, Pals and Peratallada.
My top picks for quiet towns to explore are:
This town of narrow streets was made famous by many known artists who lived here including Dali, Marcel Duchamp, and Picasso. You should visit the Dali house museum in Portlligat, nearby. Cap de Creus natural park is also in this area.
If you like secluded coves, you will love the Tamariu beach with its quiet atmosphere. There are patios with views to lounge at, and even some water activities if you want to get active.
Begur and its beaches
Begur itself is known for history and monuments. There are also many beautiful and quiet beaches like AiguaFreda, Sa Tuna, and Aiguablava.
Tossa de Mar
I also like Tossa de Mar for its old world charm, and its castle. The beaches are small but there are also coves around the area if you walk a bit; that’s a part of what makes Tossa great to explore for a couple. Do not confuse Tossa de Mar with Lloret de Mar which is actually noisy and crowded with too many parties.
If you are a couple that likes nature, Roses is a great town to visit on the Costa Brava. The town is settled around a beautiful bay with a fortress, Roman-Gothic archeological sites, and even nature parks like Aiguamolls del Empordà to explore in the area.
